COMPANY HISTORY

Realtime Associates is one of the longest standing independent interactive entertainment studios in operation today. Having released nearly 100 commercial titles since its inception, Realtime Associates has the longevity and stability to insure, reliable, professional game production.

Realtime Associates, Inc. was founded by David Warhol in 1986 as a group of ex-Mattel Electronics employees developing new game cartridges for the Intellivision, one of the first generation of video game consoles. With the introduction of the Nintendo Entertainment System, among other games, Realtime went on to create the critically acclaimed NES version of Lucasfilm Games' Maniac Mansion. Realtime continued to extensively support game consoles in subsequent years as they were introduced with licensed and original titles.

After having developed a number of titles for Sega of America, Realtime Associates was selected by Sega as one of its "Tiger Team" for the Saturn. BUG!, the first U.S.-developed Saturn title to be released, received the covers of many gaming magazines and spawned a sequel. Realtime also started to specialize in younger childrens' software, with strong support of Sega's Pico system, including The Lion King, Pocahontas, and Richard Scarry's Busiest Day Ever. Realtime was the first studio to bring the Sesame Street characters to 3D in a series of games for the Playstation and N64. Realtime Associates has since continued to develop original games, such as Battle Stations for the Saturn and PlayStation; original games based on licensed characters, such as Rugrats Scavenger Hunt for the N64; and conversions of popular titles titles, such as Gex 2 for the N64.

In addition to its consumer work, Realtime has recently turned its attention to include the emerging field of "Serious Games", developing HopeLab's medically themed Re-Mission, a full-scale PC action game shown in an clinical trial to improve teen patients' adherence to their medical regimen. ELECT BiLAT, a role playing game teaching officers deployed in Iraq how to accomplish their military objectives using research and negotiation, created in conjunction with USC's Institute of Creative Technologies, won the Army Modeling and Simulation Award of 2008. Realtime also developed the Joint Fires and Effects Training System (JFETS), a simulator using over 40 computers to generate a high end-immersive graphics experience; a series of Games for Health prototypes, and Cool School, a web site featuring over two hours of flash animation, commissioned by the US Federal Government to teach children from grades K-2 conflict resolution skills.

Realtime Associates has developed products for the Playstation 2, XBox, GameCube, Playstation, Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, NEC TurboGraphics, Sega Pico, Nintendo Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and the Nintendo Entertainment System, as well as PC and Macintosh platforms. Realtime Associates is extremely familiar with industry practices, having worked with large and small publishers, old and emerging publishers alike. Past clients include Sega of America, Electronic Arts, Mattel Media, Midway, Acclaim, and THQ, among others.
