Summary Description:

A wide-ranging collection of 490,000 mp3 files from MySpace.com, accomplished using unknown means by an anonymous academic study conducted between 2008 and 2010. These files are arranged by the filenames assigned by MySpace's Content Delivery Network, the key of which is in the metadata.tsv file in this collection. MD5 and SHA hashes are also provided from the original project, and included in the main directory.

Nearly every file in this item is no longer hosted at MySpace, due to a suspicious and low-key deletion/loss of data in 2018.

There is no other information about the origin of this collection at this time.

Accessing the Collection:

At over 1.3 terabytes of mp3 files named by the Content Delivery Network of Myspace, this collection can best be described as unwieldy. Therefore, it has been left as a set of 144 .ZIP files (created by the Info-ZIP program) that can be browsed and viewed by using the "view content" links in the general item directory.

Noob here.
I am doing this through mobile which is already a poor decision on my part, sadly currently I do own a pc/laptop.
I believe I'm going about the navigation wrong?
It seems from other comments it does work, however it is slow.

How should I go about diving in this archive?
Is there a way to speed up loading process?
Should I keep it to one word minimum in the search bar?

Subject: Great idea, but holy does it suck to search

There seems to be a pretty solid archive of tunes, but it seems like the search function works as you type instead of when you hit enter... and it's SUPER slow to update. Can this be changed to allow you to enter the band/song you want and then hit [enter] to initiate the query?

Subject: Tons of music

1.3 TB unpacked, 479k files... If you want to map the metadata to files it'll take a bit of scripting and a lot of time. Well, a few days. I've been running a script that goes through the metadata, writes ID3 tags into files, and renames the hashed names to artist--trackname.mp3. It's now two days in and I'm roughly at 70%, so it's done maybe tomorrow.

ANYWAY, an interesting stash, will probably never listen to all of it but hey, disk is cheap. Most of the music seems to be digitized at 22050 Hz, so no clean highs for anyone. I suppose 96 kbps isn't much of a limitation considering the sample rate.
